Acupuncture is among the oldest practices in the world, dating back more than 5,000 years. As part of traditional or classical Chinese medicine, acupuncture aims to restore and maintain health through the stimulation of specific points on the body.

In North America most acupuncture treatments are performed in a private room on a table, however in Asia acupuncture is usually performed in a community setting. The Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center for Survivorship and Integrative Medicine Department is offering effective and caring group acupuncture treatments where patients are seated in comfortable reclining chairs in a large, quiet and relaxing room. Acupuncture points on the extremities are primarily used for treatment. There are many benefits to having acupuncture in a community setting: many patients find the collective energy produced to be very comforting, friends and family can easily come in for treatments together, needles can be retained for as long as the patient feels they need it, and treatments can be offered at a lower cost.

Dr. Dana Krete is a licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist. She received her doctoral degree of Naturopathic medicine and Masters of Acupuncture, from the National College of Natural Medicine. In addition to her strong knowledge of acupuncture, she also has extensive clinical training in the areas of Chinese herbs, qi gong, naturopathic medicine, nutrition and fitness.

Community Sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 1- 3pm beginning September 28th.

Community Sessions are $30.
1-hr private sessions are $65.
