Strides Made in Tonsil Cancer Surgery
October 20, 2009
To this point, surgery to treat tonsil cancer can often leave survivors with speech and eating difficulties due to the type of tissue used in the reconstruction, but researchers have developed a new technique that uses tissues from other parts of the body to reconstruct the area. The new technique improves these quality of life issues. It seems particularly promising for patients who have less than half their palate removed.
The following is a (1) MedicineNet article about the new procedure, and (2) the actual study link on the NIH database PubMed.
